波羅密

波羅密 is a fruit that can grow to more than 20 kilograms in weight. 波羅密 is called jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) in English, a name taken from Malayalam by the Portuguese. The jackfruit has a pungent smell, much like that of the durian. If you have tasted it before, you might like it too.

This fruit can be eaten raw or cooked. It is also a relative of the breadfruit.

波羅密 is also a Buddhist term in Chinese and the term is from paramita in Sanskrit. Paramita basically means perfection. So you can see that the Ancient Chinese placed a high value on this fruit.
