It's the same grammar category as "If I were you" - it is only formally (形式上的) past tense, in fact it is "present conditional" (條件式)(而且條件是不真實的).

Would you know my name, if I saw you in Heaven?
如果我在天堂看見你,你知不知道我的名字?
如果我在天國相遇你...
