Hayya Jessy,
Here is a forum about this:
http://www.englishforums.com/English/HasBeenDeadHasDiedProblem/xcjpb/post.htmI created a short conversation to demonstrate the difference between tenses:
A.: Bill is dead!
B.: What? Has he died?!
A.: Yes.
B.: When did he die?
A.: He died two years ago.
B.: What?! He died two years ago, he died in 2012, so he has been dead for two years, he has been dead since 2012 - and no one (has) informed me?!
Take note, there is a verb here: (to) die - died - has/have died; and an adjective: (to be) dead.
