This is not the site's problem. It's basically the ISP's problem. I changed to using fiber optic connection in early May. The new connection features 10 Mb download and 2 Mb download speed. The conntection is of FTTB type, which means it still goes thru the telephone line first before it connects to the fiber optic switch box in the neighborhood. The technology used is called VDSL. Many users in Taiwan have experienced the problem that the connection will go dead for 2 to 3 minutes randomly. According to many online posts, it is an incompatibility issue between the VDSL machine used and the counterpart system in the fiber optic switch box. Many recommend that users ask to change to a different model which is said to be more stable. I just had Hinet change to that model this morning, but the problem still persists. There's no way I can really do about it unless I switch back to using ADSL connection. But somehow I suspect the problem is not so simple as I have carried out many tests myself and see and observe the phenomenon. I have my sever set up with four physical ips and I find mostly when a disconnection happens, it does not affect all the ips, only some of the ips are affected. Of course sometimes all the ips would go dead too.

The last test I performed about the disconnection problem is about one forth of the time the ip of OKENGLISH's would go dead even my modem had been replaced. The high rate of disconnection just started to become significant in the last few days.

Maybe I should call Hinet every day to ask them to provide a better solution or it will somewhat drive me crazy too.
