底下列出一些書籍以及網路上找到的資料。英文書可能要去書林，文鶴等書局才找的到。附帶一提，有聲在中文聲韻學裡稱為濁音，而無聲則稱為清音。

They differ from p t k only in terms of aspiration, which we discuss below (p. 57).

English voiceless stop consonants are aspirated when they are word-initial or begin a stressed syllable, as in pen, ten, Ken, but this is not distinctive. That is, these consonants have unaspirated variants in other positions, such as word-finally or in an initial cluster with [s], as in spun, stun, skunk. In many languages, such as the Chinese languages, Hindi, Icelandic, Korean, Thai, and Ancient Greek, [p⁼ t⁼ k⁼] etc. and [pʰ tʰ kʰ] etc. are different phonemes altogether.

送氣與不送氣
一般學過英文的人都應該知道英語中的三個無聲閉鎖音（爆裂音）/p/，/t/，與 /k/各有兩種發音。如果在字首或音節首，它們是送氣（aspirated）音，在/s/後則不送氣（unaspirated）。前者與國語的『ㄆ』、『ㄊ』、『ㄎ』同，後者相當於『ㄅ』、『ㄉ』、『ㄍ』（註2）例如：試比較"pie"與"spy"，"tie" 與"sty"，"key"與"ski"。為什麼這三個閉鎖／爆裂音會有不同的發音呢？關鍵就在/s/這個摩擦音上。所謂『閉鎖』指的是氣流完全被阻礙，所謂『爆裂』指的是氣受阻礙後強烈地放送出來（送氣），但是如果先『漏了氣』（s…）氣就不足，要爆裂自然也就沒什麼氣了（不送氣）。

值得一提的是除了送氣、不送氣之外，英語的閉鎖音其實還有第三種發音，語音學上稱之為『不除阻』（unreleased）。其發音方式簡單的講就是只要做出嘴型，把氣流止住就行了，不需要真正把音發出來。這樣的/p/，/t/，/k/與台語的『十』、『七』、『六』三個字的尾音相同。在英語裡這種發音方式的閉鎖音通常是出現在另一個閉鎖音之前，例如"doctor"理的/k/，"accept"裡的/p/，或像"I hate police."中的/t/。
註2：國語的這六個音全都是無聲，而且是『六』個不同的子音。這與音文的『三』個子音，六個發音不同。（對國音有興趣的讀者，可參考董同龢所著《漢語音韻學》文史哲出版社）

以英語為母語的英語尚且混雜如是，以英語為第二語言的英語就更加錯綜了。菲律賓的英語由於菲傭的大量湧入台灣，我們應不致於太陌生，其無聲子音p, t, k, 在字首不送氣，是為特徵之一，因此我們熟悉的tie [thay]，菲律賓英語唸成〔tay〕，幾近於國語的[ㄉㄞ]，乍聽之下我們會誤以為是[day](像美語的die)，因為國語的[ㄉ]正是無聲不送氣的子音，而國語並沒有有聲塞音[d]。
