Hi Elinor, a proper noun like "Cree" is not acceptable to the game. You might need to make a replacement.

Hello Menquart

I reckon 'cree' is an acceptable word. This link explains it.

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/cree#Manx

If need be, we'll seek Tim's advice.

Cheers

If you can find a word on either dictionary.com or m-w.com, you might need to say "Oh, it's a word!". Word games would always entail strange or uncommon words. If you have access to real unabridged dictionaries like Webster's second and third new international or the OED, you will even find more "odd" words.

Thanks, Tim.
The reason for my asking is to make sure that words like "café", "crème", "passé", ... etc. would or would not be accepted if they were to appear in this kind of game. Maybe "cine" is not a good example for me to come up with as it's already been "consumed" by English for quite a while and is considered as English now. Anyway, just want to smooth out the course of our game here and thanks again for coming to our help at a snap of our fingers. You surely are doing a great job!

The word cree is an acceptable word. It is now chiefly a dialect word. The following definition is from Webster's Third New International Dictionary, Unabridged. Merriam-Webster, 2002. http://unabridged.merriam-webster.com

Main Entry: 1 cree
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): creed; creed; creeing; crees
Etymology: French crever to cause to burst -- more at CRAVEN
dialect England : to soften (grain) into a pulpy mass by boiling

You can find this word in the OED and The Chambers Dictionary as well. In the OED, it is also an obsolete or rare word for "create".

Hi, Geo,
The link you gave about "cree" is a word in Manx (The Isle of Man), a different language from English. However, I can now accept "cree" based on Tim's advice.
Cheers!
