he said 'bloom' means 'prosperity' therefore he

prefer to call me 'bloom' than ' courtesy'.

Couplet at the entrance of Da Kui Tang
大魁堂门联

由于宋氏历史上人才辈出，平冈宋氏大宗祠的门联题为“赋梅世泽，题杏家声”，举出宋璟和宋祁的事迹来标榜本姓的优秀文化传统。

I found the above note in a website. It says that in history, the Song Clan (宋氏) has many capable people. This is emphasized in the couplet “赋梅世泽，题杏家声” on the front door of the ancestral temple in Da Kui Tang (大魁堂). For example, the achievements of Song Jing (宋璟) and Song Qi (宋祁) illustrate this clan’s outstanding cultural tradition.

This couple (赋梅世泽, 题杏家声) is translated as follows:

Enriching our kith and kin is the ode to the plum blossom;
Uplifting the clan's prestige is the inditement of the apricot bloom.

Enriching our kindred is the Ode to the plum blossom;
Uplifting our prestige is the inditement of the apricot bloom.

(Our) Kith and kin enriched by the ode to the plum blossom;
(Our) Family's prestige uplifted by the inditement of the apricot bloom/flush.

Intone plum blossom to brighten the clan luster;
Inscribe apricot tree to refresh the family fame.

I could not find any record that shows who wrote this couplet or any explanation of its meaning or intent. So, I asked my brothers and many friends for help and received different interpretations. From these, I formed the following impression. I emphasise that this impression is preliminary and I leave it to more scholarly members of the Song Clan to give the couplet a better interpretation.

[***宋璟***]（663——737年），唐代邢州南和人，睿宗朝与玄宗朝两任宰相，为人刚正，有“铁石心肠”之称。开元间，他与姚崇先后秉政，合称“姚宋”，是历史上有名的贤相，旧史谓“开元之治”姚宋居功至伟。[***宋璟***]又是一位辞赋家，以一篇[***《梅花赋》***] <= "Ode to the Plum Blossom" 惊动文坛。

宋郊、[***宋祁***]，宋代安陆人，后迁雍丘。兄弟二人皆以文名，并称“二宋”。宋郊（996——1066）著有《纪年通谱》、《元宪集》。[***宋祁***]（998——1061）曾任工部尚书，与欧阳修合撰《新唐书》，又是著名的词作家，善于练字，其《玉楼春》词有一[***“红杏枝头春意闹”警句最为人赞赏***] <== "inditement of the apricot bloom" ，得了个“红杏尚书”的雅号。

It is from the same website that I've derived my conclusion, hence my translation after delving deeper into the issue. As I'd mentioned earlier, I found great "fun" during the process.
