第二常見的誤用是「Can you speak ____?」 正確的詢問用法應該是「Do you speak English?」

其他常見的菜英文還有,「There has a car」,正確說法應為「There is a car」;「My friend's home」,正確說法是「My friend's house」;「The sun rises from the west」,正確用法是「The sun rises in the west」;「So hurt」,正確說是「It hurts so much」。

Hm, "Can you speak English?" and "Do you speak English?" do mean the same in the situation when one makes an inquiry if the other speaks English.
" can be translated with "can" or with "do" as well.

There are situations when they are not interchangeable.

而且, imho, the sun rises in the East, and sets in the West...

I believe most of people from my country use these 2 questions without realising that there could be difference in meaning. Haha! This is not just a Taiwanese English issue.

Yea, the same here, in Hungary.
But, see, it is quite a special case when the meaning is different.
Actually "Can you speak English?" is a less polite form of saying "Could you speak English?", which is a less polite form of saying "Would you be so kind as to speak English?", in other words "Would you be so kind as to use English instead of the language which you used now?"
