Having just posted the idiom on "hit the sack/hay", I think I should also introduce an expression involving the use of "hay." The expression is "a roll in the hay." This expression refers to the act of having sex and is often used humorously nowadays. The following examples are also taken from Longman Idioms Dictionary.
Nicole realized that she wanted more out of the relationship than a quick roll in the hay. You must think a lot of yourself if you think one roll in the hay would make me change my mind about marrying you. Tim
