What's the difference between keep and maintain?
and here is a question
Not everyone can become as slim as a model.But you can reach and ______your best weight.
A.keep B.maintain C.satisfy D.remain
the answer is B. but why can't I choose A.they have the same meaning.
so what's the difference between them?

I got confused about why "maintain" is the best choice? For test,maybe we often choose the best answer but why maintain is the best choice? if "maintain your best weight" is used often more than "keep your best weight"? Or maybe the test question is no good.or....... Please give me some suggestion. Thank you

When keep is used in the meaning of maintaining, its object needs to go with a complement.
keep + O + OC
e.g.
keep your weight down
keep your weight under control
keep your weight at a healthy level
keep your weight in the desirable range for health

However, if a descriptive adjective is put in front of the object, I think it works as well.
e.g.
keep a constant weight
keep a healthy weight

As to "keep your best weight", there seems to be something missing; for instance, "keep your best weight through well-planned diet" carries a more complete meaning. On the other hand, "maintain your best weight" sounds just fine.

因為 best weight related to control 所以maintain is better.
