There is another term we called it 課後輔導 (Giving students one more extra class after school). Do you know any similar English term to describe the same situation?

Detention means a punishment in which children who have behaved badly are forced to stay at school for a short time after the others have gone home

課後輔導 is not a punishment. Sometimes students have to pay for that,especially in cram school or junior and senior high school. Some elementary schools offer that kind of class because most parents can't take care their kids after school(parents are still working).Furthermore it's expensive to send their children to cram school so the misitry education asked schools to offer 課後輔導. In my school,we don't charge,but if you want to join the class, you must be in special conditions.
