My guess is (a)homonyms(同形異義字) or (d)polysemous(一詞多義的).
I recommend Tim give an accurate answer as he is an expert in linguistics.

Lily is right. One way to know if they words are homonyms or just polysemous is too see how dictionaries treat them. If the meanings are grouped under the same heading, they are polysemous. If they are treated under separate headings, they are only homonyms or homographs. Of course you also need to take parts of speech into consideration first.

So, for the following question: The English word-form "light" can mean "not heavy" OR "not dark", but these two meanings are not related. Which ONE of the folloing statements describes this fact? a. There are two different adjective spelt "light" and they are homonyms. b. There are two different adjective spelt "light" and they are synonyms. c. There are two different adjective spelt "light" and they are antonyms. d. There is only one adjective spelt "light" but it is polysemous. The answer is a.homonyms. Am i correct??? +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ To kikisasa: Welcome here!! 為了標題的明確性和日後大家捜尋的方便,我將您的標題做了修改. Kathy

You are right as these two meanings are not related to each other.
