顧左右而言他
to look elsewhere and talk of other things; to elude a question by talking off the point. When someone is asked a particular question that he/she does not feel like to answer, he/she may look elsewhere and talk of other things, trying to divert the asker from that topic. I don't know if there is a relative idiom in English.
