[某些類副詞的位置]:-

1) 疑問副詞, 連接副詞和關係副詞通常都在句子或從句開頭
e.g. HOW are things going?
e.g. That's HOW I look at it.
e.g. The first thing is to find out WHERE she is.
e.g. We have reached a point WHERE a change is needed.
e.g. HERE are the reasons why we do it.

2a) 句子副詞一般放在句首
e.g. MAYBE he would come round yet.
e.g. ACTUALLY, she had altered much less than I.
e.g. FORTUNATELY, he found the money he'd lost.
e.g. SURELY you'll stay for dinner.
2b) 有時也可放在其他位置
e.g. She ACTUALLY expected me to do it for her.
e.g. There has EVIDENTLY been some mistake.
e.g. You must know Bulla, SURELY!

3) 程度副詞都放在所修飾的詞前面
e.g. I'm AWFULLY sorry for what has happened.
e.g. We are getting along FAIRLY well.
e.g. She was EXTREMELY friendly.
e.g. I wasn't MUCH surprised.

4) 有些副詞位置很靈活, 如only和even, 可放在與它們意思最密切的詞之前
(ONLY)
e.g. ONLY he knows some English.
e.g. He can ONLY read. He can't speak.
e.g. She speaks ONLY French.
e.g. I'll stay ONLY for two days.
e.g. There were ONLY five girls in our class.
(EVEN)
e.g. EVEN my father doesn't know this word.
e.g. She EVEN helped us to do our housework.
e.g. EVEN at night he seldom relaxed.
e.g. It was cold EVEN in August.
e.g. He was afraid to take EVEN a drink of water.
e.g. He looked happy, EVEN gay.
