TASS indeed is an abbreviation for "Telegraph Agency of The Soviet Union"
But it is also a noun that has two meanings.
1. 'Tass' is the name of a Russian Daily.
2. 'Tass' is also a glass of wine (more popularly referred to by the Scots.
geoette, thanks for your info.
I've looked it up again in other big dictionaries and these are my findings:
1. a heap/pile/stack/rick/mow [Obsolete English]
2. a pouch/purse/pocket/chest [Foreign Root]
3. a drinking cup or its contents; a small draught of liquor as contained in a wine glass (As in French, "une tasse")
4. = "tash"
Thanks again.
