You should be a teacher.
So this works the same way as in other languages.
In English the difference is clear at "I can't swim" and "I am not able to swim", but for example when someone's legs suddenly become paralyzed he would shout "I can't walk!" instead of "I am not able to walk!" (I don't raise examples in my mother tongue...
