我先把趙元任先生的原文貼上來:
伊姨殪，遺億鎰。伊詣邑，意醫姨疫，一醫醫伊姨。
翌，億鎰遺，疑醫，以議醫。醫以伊疑，縊，以移伊疑。
伊倚椅以憶，憶以億鎰遺，以議伊醫，亦縊。噫！亦異矣。

白話文:
他的姨媽過世, 留下億元財產. 他曾遍訪全城名醫, 希望能醫治他姨媽的病, 於是有一位醫師前來醫治他姨媽. 第二天, 億元財產竟不翼而飛, 他懷疑是那醫師幹的, 並以此非議醫師. 醫師由於他的懷疑, 竟上吊自殺來去除他的懷疑. 他倚靠在椅子上來回想此事, 想到自己因億元財產失蹤而非議他的醫師, 竟也想不開而上吊身亡了. 唉, 也是太奇怪了!

我的白話譯文是隨手寫的, 沒講究修辭, 沒想到Kathy還把它譯為英文, 真有意思! 不過文言原文的文字全是同音異聲字組成, 英譯是只能意譯, 不可能保留同音異聲的特徵.

Kathy的英譯, 茲提供修改建議:
His aunt died and left a heritage of a hundred million dollar property. Before her death he had declared the news that hoped [b]visited all the doctors in town, hoping someone could cure his aunt's disease to all people living in the city. After the declaration, [/b]Then[/b] a doctor came and healed his aunt made a trial.

On the second[/b]The next[/b] day, he found the million wereproperty was gone. andHe doubted if that the doctor might have stolen the money, as well as saying something bad on so he revealed the doubt onto[/b] the doctor. Due to his doubtIn consequence, the doctor made a committed suicide by hanging himself to prove himself clean. He leant on the chairback and in regretful thought that he spoke the illness ofhad done wrong to the doctor by doubting and criticizing him unjustly of the lost property[/b]who he had doubted stole the million. Finally he hung himself finally,tooas well. What a strange thing incident it was!
