這條近日在 facebook上熱傳、小四程度的數學題，吸引 342萬網民嘗試解答。結果有 149萬名網民答案為 1而答錯，正確答案是 9。

擅長數學的台北教育大學資訊科學系教授王富祥解釋，小括號內的 1+2先算，之後算式變成 6÷ 2× 3，依算式左至右計算。

台灣數學專家認為，很多人答錯是因忘記由左至右計算、先乘除後加減的原則。台灣的教育部則批評算式題意不清，後面 2（ 1+2）應寫 2×（ 1+2）；但有四成四人答錯，確實要進行針對性的檢討。

On 1st July at 8 a.m. by my watch, it was 4 minutes past 8 a.m. by my clock. I went to Greenwich and, when my watch said noon, the true GMT was 5 minutes past noon. That evening, when my watch said 6 o'clock, the clock said one minute to 6 p.m.

On 30th July, at 9 a.m. by my watch, it was 3 minutes to 9 by my clock. At Greenwich, when my watch said 10 minutes past noon, the true GMT was 5 minutes past 12. That evening, when my watch said 7 p.m., the clock said 2 minutes to 7 p.m.

My watch is only wound up for each journey and goes uniformly during any one day; the clock is always going, and goes uniformly. How am I to know when it is true noon on 31st July?
