Using "depart" is ok ,but the sentence is not complete yet.

If you want to use "depart from", at least you should say something like "should never depart from what you have learned about English".
Maybe we can try from 分開 first, about what this should be expressed in English in this particular situation. Input from others is definitely welcomed now. Tim
