too ... to 這個說法可以說每本英漢辭典都可以發現的句型。我從國中時也一直納悶為什麼它的意思會是 "太... 所以（以至）不能..."。後來在擁有許多英英字典後，也試著能不能在裡面找到此一句型，結果答案是否定的。這讓我更疑惑不解。後來隨著年紀的增長，對語言的了解與掌握能力也更加成熟，慢慢地也能了解為什麼會有這個意思。

事實上 "太... 所以（以至）不能..." 並不算是道地的中文，因為我們在日常生活中，很少使用這樣的句型。

看看下面的例子：

It is too early to go to school.
傳統翻譯： 現在太早所以無法（不能）上學。

如果我們把上面的翻譯改成 "現在上學太早了"，這樣是不是道地的中文，也比較符合英文的句型。
