Hi Geo,

From the link you initially provided, we can find nowhere 'byou' is defined as a dance. It says:
"Byou is an exercise music CD and DVD starring Sabrina Bryan of The Cheetah Girls."
which shows byou as an album label.
Even in the statement " ... byou is about getting used to moving your body and being comfortable with who you are. It doesn't matter what size you are ..." we can also replace 'byou' by 'this DVD'. After all, how many people in the world nowadays have known a dance named 'byou'?

However, your newly provided Century Dictionary link has supported byou's being a disease or a common noun for the game. Thanks for this.

Cheers!

Hi Glot

Thank you for your differing yet constructive comments on ‘byou’ not being the name of a dance. The word ‘dance’ in the link I had provided might have escaped your eyes as shown thus ... " - it teaches dance numbers, steps and exercises."

Not being argumentative, but for your information, below is a video clip showing Sabrina Bryan doing the ‘byou’ that attracted quite a good audience. Though it is not popularized as yet, the term is already found in Answers.com and may someday find itself in regular dictionaries, as are of a few words used here in this game that are not already in regular dictionaries, but expected to be someday.

The late King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley once tried to popularize a dance called ‘The Clam’. Despite Elvis' popularity, it wasn’t very successful as shown in the viewership (see video clip below). Yet, it remains the name of a dance. Of course one other definition of the word ‘clam’ which is found in any regular dictionary, is a delicious shell food.

Thanks again. Shall we move on from here?

Cheers!

Hi Geo,

Thanks for providing the both video clips that are quite persuasive. I see Sabrina Bryan singing a song and dancing in some particular areobic steps. She pronounces 'byou' as 'be you' and even uses 'byou' as a verb:
"...'Cause you got to byou(be you)"
Yes, I'm now well convinced that Sabrina Bryan was introducing a dance which she named as 'byou'. Maybe that was the reason she labeled the CD/DVD as 'Byou' identical to the name of the dance. I appreciate very much your good effort.

Now the problem is that I fail to find a word following 'byou'. Can anyone else do?

Cheers!

Hi Glot

I am glad you are convinced of the word 'byou'. If you care to listen once more, I have copied the lyrics here for you and those interested in the number. Enjoy ba. I really find the music quite stimulating.

As a matter of fact, I am also looking for possible words that can follow 'byou'.

Good luck to all of us.

Cheers!

BYOU
Sabrina Bryan

Yeah.. Mmm.. oh yeah
Everybody is somebody
Everyone is special you know
So different
And so unique and individual
You know it, now show it
Be what you feel in your heart
Believe it
You're perfect just the way you are

You just gotta byou
And nobody else
You're the original
And you do it so well
You're the star, it's your world
Everything that you do
So remember to be yourself
Cause you've gotta byou

You're brave and courageous
You've got the power inside
You're ready
Strong enough for
Anything at any time
You know you, just be true
You've got a style all your own
Don't be shy
It's time to let yourself show

You just gotta byou
And nobody else
You're the original
And you do it so well
You're the star, it's your world
Everything that you do
So remember to be yourself
Cause you've gotta byou

Gotta byou
And nobody else
You're the original
And you do it so well
You're the star, it's your world
Everything that you do
So remember to be yourself
Cause you've gotta byou

When you know who you are
Nothing seems too hard
Oh and nothing can stand in your way
You're beautiful
Let the whole world know
Let everyone know your name

Yeah yeah yeah oh..
Got to byou

You just gotta be you (nobody else)
And nobody else
You're the original
And you do it so well
You're the star, it's your world
Everything that you do (thing that you do)
So remember to be yourself
Cause you gotta byou

You just gotta byou (gotta byou)
And nobody else
You're the original (gotta byou)
And you do it so well (gotta byou)
You're the star, it's your world
Everything that you do (gotta byou)
So remember to be yourself
Cause you gotta byou

Mmmm... oh... yeah

Hi All

I had a sweet dream last night and woke up to answer to a call, prompted by this idiom that says “Somebody can do something in his sleep.”

Strictly speaking, and going by the rules, words from The Urban Dictionary that are not found in any regular dictionaries cannot be admitted to this fun game.

However, we have made an exception to the word ‘luxy’ in the past, and I think it would be fair, if Glot agrees, that we allow ‘byor’ to pass this time, so as to ’keep the ball rolling’ as Lady Futari has mentioned. After all, I don’t think we are all here to win, but to learn and benefit from new and strange words!

Having said that, let me make my entry and continue with the fun.

Glot, over to you for your consensus.

Cheers all!

Here I come ...
