Amanda: I am! I was walking on the crosswalk on my way to school, minding my own business, when a motorcycle almost ran me over! Mike: You looked both ways before you started walking, didn't you? Amanda: Of course I did! I just hate inconsiderate drivers. It's one of my biggest pet peeves. **** Hello,How can we say"pet peeve" in Chinese?

其實peeve就是指令人氣惱的事物.
pet當形容詞用, 有"耿耿於懷的", "揮之不去的"之意.

"pet peeve" (noun phrase by 1920)
= one's particular and most cherished dislike or annoyance example: "Doing the dishes has long been one of my pet peeves."

Do you have any pet peeve?
你有什麼樣的怪毛病嗎? 所謂的 pet peeve 就是個人生活習慣上的一些小毛病, 例如有些人不喜歡別人碰他的電腦, 要是你碰他的電腦他就會不高興, 這就是所謂的 pet peeve. (而非 bad habit.) 通常 pet peeve 都是比較無傷大雅的小毛病, 幾乎每個人都有屬於他自己的 pet peeve. 所以就有老美跟我說過, "Everybody has his pet peeve." 當然 pet peeve 也常常成為老美談話之間彼此開玩笑的話題. 記得 "Friends" 有一集就是兩邊人馬在比快問快答, 而其中有一類的問題就是 pet peeves. 蠻有意思的. 如果是這個壞習慣大到會影響別人, 像是在公共場所老是講話很大聲, 這就不是 pet peeve, 而要用 annoying 來形容. 例如我就常聽老美抱怨, "Don't you think he is annoying?" Kat I never had a pet named peeve but I do have one named devil...
kat I as many people have a pet peeves, such as being in a nice restaurant and having the person next to you talking on their cell phone loud enough that the people sitting 10 tables away can hear them on the phone, another is when people go into a movie theater and talk during the movie. Wow I can list so many but I will let others tell you what pisses them off....... ha ha
