The Pursuit of Happyness《當幸福來敲門》是一部以真人故事改編而成的電影。主角 Chris Gardner 曾經因為他貧窮潦倒爬上白領階級的事蹟而上了著名的電視節目 20/20。Chris 在落魄潦倒的時候，依然堅持自己的理念朝著名證券公司的職位邁進，最可貴的是即使再忙碌，他沒有喪失身為一位父親的職責。這集 20/20的其中一段是 Chris 帶著記者回到舊金山地下鐵車站的一間廁所，在那裡 Chris 和他兒子曾經渡過一個艱辛的夜晚，這畫面不僅感動了無數觀眾，也感動了製作人 Mark Clayman 和他的妻子，進而促成這部電影的誕生。
