This proverb should be also very easy to understand. It tells people not to try to work on two things at the same time. Because if you do, it's very hard for you to do either one well and might not succeed in accompling either one.

This proverb is from Erasmus Adages III ccxxxvii. duos insequens lepores, neutrum capit, he who chases two hares catches neither.

Ha ha, as a child I use to chase after the rabbits on my grandparents farm and I found that if you just kept chasing those rabbits around I would just get tired. I soon found that if I cornered one I could catch him and play with him.....

The same goes for life and that is if you chase after one goal you can achieve it. Or if I had many projects on my mind I would focus on one and finish it before trying to spread my time and energy to other projects.

Sometimes you have no choice though you have to work on more then one thing at a time and all you can do is your best to finish each project.
