a. is the correct one.
My grandmother has died = my grandmother is dead, these sentences refer only to her state, but here you can not add the lenght of the period (for how long she has been in this state). Ahh! It is a typo, I guess, "i miss her", not "him". Quote:

B.: What? Has he died?! A.: Yes. B.: When did he die? A.: He died two years ago. B.: What?! He died two years ago, he died in 2012, so he has been dead for two years, he has been dead since 2012 - and no one (has) informed me?! Take note, there is a verb here: (to) die - died - has/have died; and an adjective: (to be) dead. Quote:
