Yes, Geoette, "ates" is one of the words 'invaded' by English (or, rather, the other way round, has made its way into English), like "cafe", "saute", "deja vu", "linguine", "vin rouge", "amigo", "ciao", and many others. "Ates" itself is an "international" word; it is Filipino, Turkish, Spanish, ..., and is used in Guam and the States when one is referring to sweetsop, while in the culinary dictionary (which I've provided above), it connotes: 1) sweet-sop; 2) sweet fruit pastes; 3) an equal amount of fruit pulp and sugar. And, to add to the list, ates is a frequent word used in the New York Daily's crossword puzzle game.
Last but not least, thanks for bringing the used word "pepo" to my notice. Correction has been made accordingly. 676. glotynn - cauf, slep, atom, rede 677. geoette - sauf, slen, atoi, redo 678. glotynn - saul, smen, atop, repo 679. geoette - saur, smew, atof, pepo 680. Menquart - gaur, snew, atef, pepa 681. futari - waur, snaw, ates, "papa" (revised) http://www.answers.com/topic/waur http://www.answers.com/topic/snaw http://www.recipegoldmine.com/glossary/glossaryA.html = sweetsop; sweet fruit pastes; an equal amount of fruit pulp and sugar http://www.answers.com/topic/papa

Hi Futari,
'Ates' may be borrowed into English but unlike cafe, vin rouge, saute, linguini, deja vu etc., it is still not mature enough to be listed in the regular dictionaries. Maybe it will be in the future. Let's see what other participants may say. My standby entry: 676. glotynn - cauf, slep, atom, rede 677. geoette - sauf, slen, atoi, redo 678. glotynn - saul, smen, atop, repo 679. geoette - saur, smew, atof, pepo 680. Hello Glot
Please provide a definition for 'axes' if it is not a plural word. Thanks.
